Do you mean buying at my local store or buying in Melbourne?
Local store for you like Moog Audio.
Everything works besides the no sound part lol.
When it’s working, it’s truly special. Perfect circuit has one on the floor so you can try it out if you’re local in LA.
I bet you it’s one simple thing, though i’m positive it’s not pilot error. This will be important for MI to work out. It’s a nightmare for a developer, you’re always looking over your shoulder and second guessing yourself on early units. You feel it’s the company, and maybe your career that’s on the line. Of course it’s not.
ADDED : An example of “one simple thing”. A bad solder to the main output jack, that cracked after the third time it was plug connected. The soldering was done too cold to that connector. Reflow the solder, problem fixed. It’s happened before.
It seems like a nice general purpose synth, but it definitely doesn’t have as much character as others (like the M). I think put the M through some saturation and the sound at 44:05 would be not so hard to replicate.
I’ve had both and I think it has as much character as the M. I sold the M and kept this. The M is magical but I like the UI on the Nina way more. But it’s way more expensive too.
You’re going to get another unit (NINA)?
They got back to me and in a couple of emails they helped me solve it! For some reason one of the volume settings in the menu went to zero. No idea why, but it was probably something I did.
Back to exploring this wonderful machine!
God that’s reassuring !!!
Pilot error after all. But i’d have to think there is a contributing factor with the UI too.
Enjoy the NINA, ddiamond84 !
Thank you! Yeah it isn’t a perfect UI, but it’s as close as I’ve ever seen, and with an update/updates I can only imagine where this goes.
Incredibly expensive, but I do believe it’s worth the money on many different levels.
Eh think I’ll stick to my Virus TI2 Dark Star keyboard for now.
Got mine today. The moving encoders are helpful and great, but the sound of Nina was something that blew me away. I own OB-X8, P10 etc so I’m a bit spoiled when it comes to good sounding synths.
So far pros and cons:
Pros
- sounds amazing
- great UI
- build quality is top notch
Cons
- gets a little warm
Wow, if it can hang with those synths. Sometimes I just listen to the P10 and forget what I’m doing.
With twelve analog voices and motorized knobs, I’m surprised it’s not blazing hot.
I’ll have to listen to some more demos after hearing you say this… The sound didn’t catch me at all when I listened to the demos, but maybe I just listened to the wrong ones.
You have to listen to the most recent ones. From my understanding, in the older videos, the NINA wasn’t fully operational hence the sound design was suffering from this.
I haven’t watched a lot of NINA videos yet to compare, but I thought some of the sounds in this one were pretty good.
Yep, the most recent one.
I’m not convinced. Seems like a very bread and butter synth with nothing new to offer soundwise. using a very expensive and unnecessary mechanical gimmick to attract attention. It doesn’t even look good. I’ll pass.
