Novation Circuit Rhythm and Circuit Tracks

Speaking off…now, where is that Drumlogue?

I personally can not wait to hear about the Rhythm!

I think these marketing campaigns are pretty cool personally, I really liked the Model Cycles and Teenage Engineering Radio where everyone was speculating what they might be and the companies released little clues for us to decipher. In a world of instant gratification maybe it’s nice to have something to look forward to, for a change.

I loved the model cycles one. the kick pattern especially. I looked them up on utube again the other day to give em another listen

I generally love elektrons teasers. make the units sound real gritty n all

After 4 days Novation will reveal the Tracks, but what about the Rhythm? The Rhythm has 8 tracks, we want the Rhythm!

btw, if Rhythm has synth-based 8 tracks and Tracks has 2 tracks with 3 polyphony per track, it is possible that Rhythm would be better for melodies than Tracks

now that I think about it, Tracks would then also have 4 mono synth based tracks, so Rhythm would have 8 voices but Tracks will have 10 + 2 midi channels.

I would assume that if a track is synth based, you could theoretically use it as a melody voice as well, even if its originally intended to be a drum synth voice, kind of like you can do it on the Model Cycles and other similar units

i wonder why you think they would lower polyphony from 6 to 3.

oh, I though it was 3, my bad

3 is the polyphony of some Volcas, e.g. Volca FM.

If this has resampling to pad and SD streaming and auto chop by threshold, could be very interesting.

I already have too many samplers though (DT, BB, PT) and soon a M8.

Maybe I’ll sell the BB if this can do some of the same duties

They will not include an audio interface and no multi tracking over USB.

They want you buy Focusrite interfaces instead and forget about multi tracking.

Again the new Circuits will be extremely limited by Novation.

They have the knowledge to build a great device with all the important features but they simply wont cause they care more about selling you multiple devices that are limited.

For years users have been asking/telling/screaming/begging Novation what they want in a new Circuit but Novation simply doesn’t care and they’ll proof it with these new Circuits.

After so many years and now with the new releases I gave up. Novation simply wont do what we want them to do. It’s pathetic!

It’s so weird that a company you like has the knowledge to build this amazing device but doesn’t and let innovation die from within. THANK YOU CAPITALISM!

CALC I know you’re reading this. Still love you but grrrrrrrrr

Feel better after that?

I think you don’t understand capitalism. You don’t earn money as a company, if people don’t give you money. If people would not want a Circuit, they will not buy them.
Just because they did not meet YOUR expectation and many from a few more LOUD people on the internet (that are a minority but just don’t seem to realize that) does not mean that they don’t please their target group.

People love the simplicity of the Circuit’s workflow which is very fast, pleasant and intuitive. So, Novation they know that the new Circuits will sell at least 30.000 each unit, the Tracks and Rhythm, respectively.

So, Circuit it has its audience which is huge, so the business are good, Novation they don’t have to bother to make it substantially better. This is how capitalism works of course, but that doesn’t mean that Novation couldn’t make it better.

To me it is important the unit to transmit audio over usb and to suport multi tracking over USB, and the user to be able to load his own samples into synth tracks and into drum tracks as well, and to have parameter/sample lock per step function in the drum tracks.

If all these are on point as expected, then certainly if you get the Tracks you will have the flexibility to make even full songs only by using this unit. Of course by using the Rhythm things will be even better because in this case you will have 8 tracks in your disposal. Anyway, I have an instinct that the Rhythm has 8 monophonic tracks, but, ok either way you can make music with it.

Kind of misses the point though. A circuit with @Digichamp’s enhancements might result in more happiness for people and less money for Novation. But will we ever find that out ? We might have half a chance at answering that if Novation published results of its focus groups, it’s user research, or decision making process … but I suspect that’s not going to happen.

Well, time for a cup of relaxing tea and calm down. Breath. Tomorrow is the day, where all questions and speculations will get answered.

People love the simplicity in the first few weeks/months and than get frustrated and sell the thing.
I had loads of them and I’m not the only one. Random knobs doesn’t create simplicity, No screen isn’t a feature. Basically anyone who is serious with Circuit will mention the limitations this device has.

We may be in the minority but that doesn’t mean its a tiny group. This group is very vocal cause they see the massive potential in what can be created if it was a more mature version. This is the group that knows every little trick about the Circuit. I’m willing to bet most of them bought a Launchpad Pro MK3 because it has a lot of the Circuit tricks in a controller that doesn’t require a computer to be connected. (but it still has no screen en you still need to connect a computer if you want to edit the controller).

Again we’re getting a device with a build in synth that can’t be fully edited without hooking it up to a computer. Finding the sweet spots with the Nova engine is already a hard thing to accomplish. (the reason why most synth sounds on the circuit aren’t that great). Why? It just doesn’t make sense to me. Why is there still no editor for IOS? At least that would’ve solved a lot of frustration.

Novation could still release a mature version next to these limited versions and make loads of money.
And were are the editors for IOS? Novation is very active on IOS so why they’re still not available is beyond me.

Also Novation over the years has giving the Circuit lots of updates which is great and I hope they keep doing that. But if we compare it to what Synthstrom did with their Deluge it becomes a bit laughable as Novation by comparison is a much larger company with more money on the bank and more knowledge overall.

unless they play gigs.
this is where simplicity shines.

Specially in a live situation you don’t wanna be depended on random knobs.

well, there is an old school practice called rehearsals.
it turns random knobs to predictable.
i love either Circuit and Mono Station because they are really simple & convenient.
