Yep thats the way to reset a step to a default value. while the Rec button is lit, hold the step, press clear and turn the pot clockwise (LED goes blue).
You can do this with the sequencer running or not
Locking the macro value can also be used whether there is a note placed on the step or not.
Its pretty much the same as adding step automation on a per step basis but using clear to hit he default sweet spot.
If you are not too concerned with micro variations in the value (most noticeable on pitch) you could leave out the ‘clear action’ and just automate the step to a value very close to the default. Adding in the clear button to the action locks it to the actual default value which can be very useful.
Umm. Does the BPM on other people’s Rhythm’s fluctuate? Mine is not hooked up to any kind of midi sync.
My Rhythm pattern is 133. When I record that loop into Ableton, which is set to 133, I have a hell of time cutting out perfect loops. I end up having to set warp markers, move markers etc. The Rhythm’s tempo is a moving target.
First spin with the Circuit Rhythm and I’m super impressed. At first, the device didn’t make sense to me, and just seemed a little too underpowered as a groovebox. But when I started treating it like a drum machine instead of a groovebox, the Circuit Rhythm finally clicked. Took me about ten minutes to finish a song and figure out the performance aspects; it’s really fast, fun, and intuitive. With both MIDI and eurorack clock, it’s a super strong way to get a song to the finish line.
This video convinced me to get one. I have the tracks and a digitakt and other drum machines. I was underwhelmed by the rhythm at first, but when you showed using it primarily as a drum machine I could see that it’s super quick and powerful to use. Thanks for making it!!
There’s been a new update to both Novation Components and Circuit Rhythm (FW1.1.1) this week. Go grab it if you want way way quicker transfer speeds for your packs and samples.
On average its around 4.5 times faster now. A full pack that used to take around 12 mins to upload to the unit just took slightly over 2mins30 seconds!!!
Its a proper speed bump up…
Get back to making music faster and drink less cups of tea.
Thx Calc, i’m not hurry to pick mine, i’m waiting for some update improvement before puting my hands on it, by the way, in France, it’s not before october in the shops
I think the old circuit was ok tempo wise , seems weird that it’s got worse … tempo not drifting is a must for anything shipping with midi , it’s been around quite a long time.
I presume it’ll be fixed if it’s due to any circuit box.
I do wish the grid fx were a little smoother and more adjustable on the machine itself. Letting go on an FX never feels that smooth and a little too abrupt. Maybe they can adjust the algorithm so there’s a smoother release time or something?
And I know you can edit the fx on components but it’d be cool to modify them on the actual machine now and then. I’m really into it!
Good Fun but something did not convince me to actually keep my unit that I just bought , now boxed and will be up for sale, I rather go for an MC 101 at this stage
I boxed up the Rhythm a couple weeks ago. The sound on mine was super low compared to other machines I have. AND, most importantly, the tempo was not stable. True, I can boost the gain on my mixer, but I can’t do that with my headphones.
I posted it on CL but no one has bit yet.
Maybe an update before the sell date will happen…who knows.
The Rhythm is a very good groovebox and AFAIK is a straight forward device for those handling Live Recording and loops more than I may ever be, not a HUGE fan of ONLY sample instruments but I was attracted by the easy Slice side of it ( in that is superb ) more than my MC 707 were the options are a bit straight forward with no choice between 4-8-16 autoslice like this machine, BUT maybe because I’m not much into sort of MPC style programming I missed the Synth side of it ( like the Circuit Tracker ) and Polyphony, I did spend an entire week experiment around and I found that it overlap notes on a fingerdrumming like if the MicroGrid is trying to place 2 notes on the same pad but I was about to doublecheck this using an external sequencer.
