Does Novation release publicly the firmware changes? I cannot find any release documents for the Circuit Rhythm (I don’t own one… yet).
Also is it possible to use Grid FX on external audio?

Yeah, grid fx and the master filter apply to both the internal and the external audio. The reverb, delay, and side chain can only be applied to the internal tracks.
And the firmware stuff is probably in the support section. If I recall correctly, the last one was mostly some bug fixes and a change that makes transferring things to the Rhythm faster.
anyone think it would be possible to get
-timestretch
-polyphonic sample playback
in a future update?
I know novation has been amazing with their updates in the past (previous circuits, bsss sattion, etc)
why not, they’ve been telling me they like the idea since the first day the original circuit dropped
That’s good to hear! :>
Doug - nice tunes. I noticed you have a digitakt as well. How do you like the rhythm in comparison? I have a digitakt as well, but rhythm seems fun since the Novation workflow is super fast and immediate and sometimes the digitakt is a whole to do.
Yeah, I think you’ve got it right.
There are some things that I really don’t like about the Circuit–mostly Components and the pack system. But once you get going, it’s pretty smooth. And because it’s really quick to do something like resample a sequence to a pad and then throw it in a slice track and mess around with it, I think it lends itself to a lot of experimenting and doing things you might not do on the Digitakt. The Digitakt’s better with details. The sample and project management aspect is a lot better. Transfer is better.
So yeah, I like them both. I really like the sequencer on the Rhythm except for the fact that it’s pretty low resolution (24 ppqn). The way the scenes and patterns work let you build things up pretty quickly.
Hi all! Anyone know how to change time signature on rhythm, for example, 13/8 and 6/8?
Hey there,
In a default state there are 16 x 16ths in a pattern making a standard bar of 4/4 but you can adjust this to any length in the pattern settings page.
So e.g. for a 6/8 time signature you’d need 12 x 16ths (as 2 x 16ths = 8th) so simply set the pattern length to 12 steps long and you’re there… In the pattern settings page use the top two rows to define the sequencer length. You can use 12 steps for either 6/8 or 3/4 bars.
If you want something a little more juicy like the 13/8 time signature you’d need 26 x 16ths. For this you’d need to switch in the double pattern length (1-16 17-32 switch) then again in the pattern settings page make the pattern end at the 26th step on the 17-32 steps page.
This is set up per pattern so if you are wanting the rest of the tracks to also be in the same altered time signature its handy to set up one pattern, then duplicate that across all the tracks and patterns you want to use.
Or you could of course go wild and get your Stravinsky on with lots of different time signatures in different patterns…
Hope that helps.
Oh and BTW another Circuit Rhythm Livestream over on the Novation YouTube channel tonight 9pm GMT.
I’ll be looking at the ace new (and totally free) sample packs that have just landed for Rhythm.
Cool trick!
Currently GASsing hard for the Rhythm.
The OG Circuit got me started in music production and I’ve always had a soft spot for it and Novation.
I’ve got an iPad and Koala Sampler….so I dunno man.
I don’t know if you saw my post in the hardware deals section, but Detroit Modular has them on sale right now for $299.
Thanks, but I’m in the UK.
Cheapest I’ve seen here is £317.00
Hi all,
Rhythm is now £269 on Amazon UK for Black Friday. I’ve got a £40 voucher so managed to pick one up for £229!
It’s still £269.99… Should I or shouldn’t I? I keep on buying (and selling) gear rather than properly learn what I’ve got. But the Circuit Rhythm just looks so intuitive and hands on…
Question about the circuit rhythm, can I dedicate 1 or more tracks to midi out?
I know what you mean.
