I would assume so. I don’t really use sample packs myself
Super cool you are using the Rhythm Circuit. Looking forward to hearing some jams. Your work with the Blackbox was epic. I recently purchased a Rhythm and have been rather pleased with the options and sonic potential. I may partner it with a Red Panda pedal or looking at the Chase Bliss Habit.
Not sure I got the headspace to learn the Rhytm right now, we’ll see. But it definitely is not getting the credit it deserves. The grid FX designer, switching and layering them, and the sequencer - this is powerful stuff.
A little treat I found - use p-locks on certain trigs and assign them a probability. Due to Novation’s different implementation of p-locks, you get a surprising amount of variation in how a track can behave sonically since it’ll shift and move depending on the latest p-lock setting and not snap back to default settings.
Is anyone uiing the Circuit Tracks with an Octatrack for live stuff?
i’m looking to have stems/looper on the OT, then something to throw on the fly percussion/synths over the top. I’ve been using an MPC One for this but it seem way overkill.
The Circuit Tracks looks quite immediate for that kind of thing.
So a little Circuit Rhythm jam. Not sure if it’s a keeper or not, but it’s certainly an enjoyable experience to work with the Circuit, no matter the outcome -
You know you’ve not quite nailed it when the only likes and comments you get on SoundCloud are from repost bots
Anyone know if you can make free running loops on the Rhythm? I’ve tried and failed, including googling and RTFM:ing.
I’d like to trigger a loop and then let it runs its course endlessly, not resetting as the pattern resets nor stopping when the gate ends. No time stretch or anything, just fire the loop and let it repeat itself until the dawn of a new era arrives.
Don’t know, but wonder if Rhythm also has the ‘Tied/Drone notes’ feature that was added to the OG Curcuit.
That might do it, since a loop in Rhythm does n’t die until the note’s gate does. So if there’s a drone mode, that would probably work.
Gonna do some R&D on this one.
As far as I know you can’t tie a note beyond a single page of the sequencer, so drones are out unless you use the pad view and stick a weight on the pad or something. Definitely one for an update (@calc please pass on! ).
I have used the Zoia to latch a gate on for drones but not sure I saved it. Will fish out and share if I did.
Thanks at least that confirms free running loops is out for now, if you stay native Rhythm.
Double check though because you can on OG circuit. (make the step length 16 and add the tie )
Or maybe not - couldn’t find in manual… maybe this looming Novation announcement will bring it
From memory I think you can in the Tracks but not the Rhythm. I do remember that method from the OG.
Nice jam! Your sounds and tone are reminiscent of the tracks you made on the Blackbox. I just received a Red Panda Particle pedal today I am going to hook up to the Rhythm. If I create anything promising, I’ll share. I wonder how the Chase Bliss Blooper or Mood would combine with the Rhythm?
Thanks I’ve tried the Mood a few times, its mono character fits the Rhythm quite well, but sampling from the Mood into the Rhythm got mixed results. Rhythm’s normalisation process isn’t always great for such an intense source as the Mood.
Here’s another one - more pleased with this one - getting some kind of 90’s vibe or something. The Rhythm has a great character in its sound. The GridFX are more efficient as simple sources for general overall sound shaping, less as performance effects. But like using the dist with hiss only as a tape plug, the vinyl sim with just a little crackle as a noise plug, and a filter as just a character shaper.
And the polyrhythm options are just awesome.
Anyway -
Anyone here knows if there’s a way to have a track free running and switch when it’s done, when I use the song mode in the Mix section? Right now, it seems all tracks reset when I switch them in batches like this, which breaks the free flow of some of my loops. I’m left to manually progress through my song if I want to keep each track running its own course, which isn’t any good for a guy who can only do one thing at a time and breathing counts
Hi,
Is it possible to have the circuit rythm as the brain of a dawless setup ?
For example can it send PC messages to change digitone and machine drum patterns ? I’m curious if some of you tried and if the timing is not too weird compared to the polyend tracker for example ?
Nah, that set up wouldn’t really work. I think that theoretically you can send program change messages by changing projects on the Rhythm. But even if it worked, you can’t chain projects so you’d be better off just changing patterns from the Digitone.
