What's next for Elektron?

Just thinking out loud: before the Octatrack must people thought that Elektron didn’t work on a sampler because of the UW sampling on the MD. If you read the introduction of the manual of the Octatrack you see that the UW machine inspired Elektron for the Octatrack!

So maybe the Analog Four also works as inspiration for on Analog Machinedrum! And then maybe they make an Digital Machinedrum and an Analog Machinedrum just like the Monomachine and Analog Four…

I think its an analog drum machine called the RT1.

This is it!!!

DIY A4 style keyboard / midi controller with wood ends :astonished:

interesting first post…

Didn’t say there is not life left in it: I said a company with the size and increasing popularity of Elektron isn’t going to take big risks. No one can argue it isn’t WORTH continuing to work on and develop FM synth products, but we have PreenFM 2 coming out and now this intriguing company!

But you can’t argue that the first major Electronic Instrument company to: create a UI for FM synthesis (that isn’t reliant on a software editor) while also being the first to attempt a deep FM synth that is also geared towards live performance, and then launch the first FM synth in 15 years isn’t a big risk.

A cool hybrid synth with FM elements would be incredible and wouldn’t be as risky- and I would probably buy it =)[/quote]
If they stop taking risks, like the machinedrum and monomachine they stop being Elektron and all my interest goes out the window.

Seriously, people thought new drum machines were silly 10+ years ago. I did. I got (and sold) an 808 for waaaay less than the price of a MD (pre UW)! What did MDs cost then $1500? For that, I could have gotten an 808 and 909 too, but it takes so much processing to not make it sound terrible. :imp:

Releasing a mono digital groovebox - madness, glorious madness.

Or why come out with an expensive sampler when you can just use Live and a Laptop?

The analog4 is the least stupid, and while I like it and use it, it’s also my least favorite because it doesn’t have quite the same level of freakdom/character/soul because it’s the least bold. And that has nothing to do with the sound.

If they just go for what’s easy they turn into Roland. :sleepy:

From picture clues it looks like it will be a 5-voices (a 5 notes keyboard at the bottom of the picture: C,C#,D,D#,E = 5 in total…) analog (wood=warmth=analog… :joy: ) => polysynth with keyboard (or maybe without)

My guess is also an A4 keyboard SFX-6 style but as a limited run. It would be the same hardware and features as the desktop version and it will come with a big OS update. A completely new machine would be introduced differently and with at least with some sinister teaser trailer madness.

I always found the SFX-6 very retro-futuristic-appealing. And for people who both like stylish gear and are able to play the keys it would be a nice choice to have. I always find hooking up a Midi Keyboard to be tedious and aesthetically unpleasing. Seriously, most midi keyboards just look and feel like a piece of molded plastic crap. Also if they’d choose a 3 octaves range it would be a rare addition to the current range of analog keys.

Anyway, we’ll see.

It it’s been pointed out before but the night of the machines graphic is definitely meant to represent 3 white and 2 black keys, gotta be a hint.

I think a keyboarded type machine deffo fits into there marketing projects being they are a SYNTH (although not traditional) producer and market pressure especially at the moment seems to lean to making keyboarded portable synths!!! Oh and let’s face it… they’ve done it before :stuck_out_tongue:

More wild speculation: The DGS-1 (Digital Granular Synthesizer) Cloudbender granular synth groovebox! Load user or factory samples and blow them into a cloud of granular joy, or even live sample with RAM Machines and add your choice of effects to your micro timed sequences.

Sorry, I got bored  since my OT is being a fussy bitch (headphone jack acting up ala well-known issue fixed by cranking compressor gain) and killed my inspiration for tonight.

Drop a teaser pic!!! We got hella gas. Feed the beast!!!

Got a little excited for a moment. Accidentaly selected Elektrons product page from my history rather than here and while loading the page there was a different machine at the top before a screen flash and the usual line up with A4 up top.

Im pretty certain it was just a different shot of the Monomachine at a different angle (not flush with the front like usual). Like 95% certain. It was silver and looked the same as a MnM anyway. I also pretty certain that it was just a random glitch from an old web cache as haven’t been able to recreate it but I was on the site this morning so would have thought any cache overwritten.

Just having a bit of fun letting folk know for the rumour mill!

Is Elektron Music Machines on Facebook an official site? They posted something an hour ago about “meet the new member of the family” or something like that so would presume this rules out new versions of MD or keyboard A4’s.

Yes, it’s the official FB page.

yea dunno, Machinedrum being out of stock likely doesn’t mean they will be phased out, imo… if this turns out to be a new drum machine I’d guess it will be a new product with a new identity, not SPS1 MK3… same relation as MnM --> A4, they are different beasts & coexist…

We have the wood background. Wood = log = analog obviously. MD’s out of stock. The stars have aligned. I now predict the Elektron Drumalog, an x voice analogue drum synth… The Drumalog title only narrowly beat Analdrum in the polls.

I hope Jon is enjoyable the nonsense predictions!!!

J0n35y,

I just saw the "silver box" flash up for a split second as well.
I don't have video or screen capture device to grab it, but it deffo appears, not every time , but its there.

A beautiful silver box of goodness!!!!

So maybe the wood grain in the poster refers the trees to be cut down to produce PROPER manuals!!!!!!

Just laughed about this on a crowded train and looked like a complete psycho!

I get this occacisonally… it’s a know bug yeah? Is there a known fix?

there’s a thread on the old site that I got the compressor gain thing from (and it can be on any track with audio playing, not just 8/master like some said), and there are people thinking all sorts of reasons, from static build up on the jack/op amp, software bugs, and at least one person said Elektron replaced their logic board over it o.O The last is why I contacted Elektron since my warranty is almost up (end of this year)
