Your top ten video games of all time

I tried to get into these as I was a huge fan of Black Isle growing up, but holy fucking lore dump man! There was so much to read and the blue giants looked ridiculous so I just quit.

I might be too jaded to play fantasy RPG’s anymore, sadly.

super mario kart on the super nintendo/famicom surely has to be one of the greatest games of all time. in terms of playability, skill curve and music.

currently listening to this for the first time, she really was one of nintendos best composers.
great video if you’re into waveforms.

Munch’s Oddysee…I haven’t played it yet, but why do you prefer it over the Abe games? They are some of my favorites.

Wow! Pilotwings has some of my favorite VGM of all time - didn’t realize Soyo Oka did all of this! Thanks for posting this secret soundtrack.

(the bonus notes during the video are really fun)

I probably should have had The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past in there as well … every top game list should have a Zelda game in it.

I can only appreciate what Zelda does for other people from a distance. Just never got into them myself.

In no particular order, my own top 10 is something like…

  1. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Mr. Needlemouse rides again)
  2. Civ 6
  3. Skyrim
  4. Mass Effect Trilogy (but really ME2 if I had to pick one)
  5. Burnout Revenge
  6. Half Life 2
  7. Gran Turismo 4
  8. Super Mario Odyssey
  9. Killing Floor 2
  10. Roller Coaster Tycoon 2

I’m surprised how much fits in a top 10 and some of the stuff I left off, but right now in rush to get off to dinner, I can leave it there.

  • Zelda [any]
  • Quake 3
  • Tiger Woods 2004
  • Ultima 3
  • Paper Mario
  • Rainbow Six Siege
  • Golf Club 2K21
  • Tempest
  • Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2
  • Icewind Dale [cuz I werked on it and it was fun werking on that game[art lead]]

adding: interesting I thought I had posted here already. Checked, I had, my list is almost the same. These must be my ACTUAL faves

My 2 cents, in no specific order (such a difficult choice):

Disco Elysium (this one deserves the first place anyway)
Dwarf Fortress
Outer Wilds
The Witness
Infra
Divinity: Original Sin 2
Half-Life Black Mesa (1 remake) and the 2’s
Portal 1/2
S.T.A.L.K.E.R series
Zelda Breath of the Wild (for its freeness)
Minecraft (for even more freeness, and despite its community)

…and so many others!

Jagged Alliance 2…a lesser known gem. My brother and I loved that one.

Romance of the III Kingdoms

Best strategy game ever, it’s amazing how there’s nothing that compares to it even 20 years later. Depth of combat and the very fun (if a bit clunky) grand strategy map made for such a fun whole. Not to mention that the characters, plot and humour were all top notch, perfect b-movie action fun.

There’s a great mod for it called 1.3 that both adds a huge amount of items and content, better balance and new mechanics that makes it even better. Honestly if I had a gaming computer I would still play it constantly.

Maybe someday I’ll get to play it again…I’ll keep 1.3 in mind.
Definitely great humor as far as I can remember.
Of course Shadow was my favorite character and the only one I remember by name. It’s been a loooong time.
